All visitors are very welcome at Head Start Nursery School.
Some visitors will have no need to gain access to the school as the purpose of their visit will be of limited duration, e.g. delivery or collection of goods.
Whenever possible, visitors to the school, including prospective parents and children and workers from other agencies should make appointments so that staff are aware that they will be present.
Unannounced visitors should not be permitted into the school unless they have clearly stated their need to enter and provided some form of identification to support their position.
All visitors need to sign in and out in the Visitor Record Book showing the date and time of the visit.
Whilst on the premises, visitors should not be left alone under any circumstances with a child/children and need to be accompanied at all times.
Visitors need to be made aware of any risks to their health and safety, especially if it is an extended visit, particularly around small children and toys on the floor.
All students on placement need to be formally introduced by their respective college, undergo an interview and induction session and sign in and out using the staff time sheets.
