Injuries

If the injury has occurred at home, parents must inform staff at the beginning of a session and provide an explanation. Parents will be required to complete an ‘Accidental Injury outside of Headstart’ form so that both staff and parents are aware of this injury.

If the child is wearing a caste or some other form of bandage, using crutches etc, parents must take responsibility for their child’s attendance in this situation and sign the form accordingly.

In the event of an injury occurring at school, the child will be given immediate first aid. In the event of a serious injury or suspected illness, parents will be contacted in order that they make take appropriate action. If necessary and if the injury/illness is life threatening, staff will immediately consult a doctor and take whatever action is required. Parents will have given their consent for emergency treatment on the registration form.

All injuries will be logged in the Accident Book. On collection of their child, parents will be given an explanation of the injury and the circumstances surrounding it and asked to sign the Book thereby acknowledging that they have been supplied with all relevant information.

All staff injuries will be logged in the Accident Book. First Aid will be administered as necessary by a qualified First Aider.

Any notifiable injury or illness will be dealt with by the Head teacher or the Head Nursery Nurse.
