CLOAKROOM
As we approach the winter months and coats, scarves and hats appear, we find that we are very limited in space around the pegs, especially if children bring in large bags. To that end I have purchased a draw-string bag for every child to bring in a change of clothing and nappies etc. Please would you use these, they can remain permanently at Head Start and will only need to go home if a change of clothing etc is required. They will be particularly useful in the summer months as we will be able to store sun-cream and children’s hats permanently at Head Start.
BBC CHILDREN IN NEED FRIDAY 18TH NOVEMBER
We will be raising funds as per usual for this appeal. This year we will be asking family and friends to sponsor the children to see how many bean bags they can throw into a bucket. More details in next newsletter.
CLOTHING
I will be shortly placing an order for school clothing, e.g. t-shirts and sweatshirts. These tend to be very good value as they wash well and keep their colours. If you would like to place an order, please speak to a member of staff as soon as possible. Also, as we approach the colder months, children will need to come to school with coats and hats as we will It would help if all children came with appropriately labelled clothing especially any outdoor wear. Labels would also be helpful for lunch boxes as many children have similar ones.
ROBBIE AND ROSIE THE BEAR
As very few people tend to go on holiday during the Autumn period, we thought it would be really nice if Robbie and Rosie got the opportunity to have days out with the children. If you are doing anything special over the next few months, attending a Firework Display, visiting Santa in his grotto, attending a light switch on, think about our bears. If you know of an event now, please speak to a member of staff and book the date.
SCHOOL TIMES
Can I remind you that the school opens at 8.45 a.m. until 12.00 noon and from 12.30 p.m. to 3.45 p.m. However, under new government guide lines we need to provide flexible openings, so we can accept children from 8.30 a.m. when staff are in situ and until 4.00 p.m. We are also offering more flexible opening to suit people’s working hours, so if you require a different pick-up time can you please speak to a member of staff. There is a charge of £3 per hour over and above the sessional times.
SCHOOL VOUCHERS
Thank you to everyone who collected vouchers for us over the past year. We have ordered some indoor toys via Tesco and garden toys from Sainsbury’s. Also thank you for collecting sponsorship money for Barnardo’s through the Big Toddle, we raised over £90, which is a great achievement for a small school.
CHRISTMAS
Advance notice that we will be performing a Xmas Play during week beginning 5th December. The Xmas Party will be on Friday 16th December at Ramsey Forty Foot Village Hall. More details of both of these nearer the time.
A FEW PLEAS
1. Can I remind you that the parking space directly adjacent to the school is allocated for people with a disability. Some parents have commented to me that it is not being used appropriately and I would ask for your assistance in parking your car properly.
2. Please can I remind you that it would be helpful if you could donate a piece of fruit, tinned or fresh or a vegetable to facilitate our healthy eating at snack time. We still do like birthday cakes as well!!!!!!!
3. I realise that it is extremely early to be talking about half term but I would very much appreciate it if you could inform us about your child’s attendance during that week. Obviously for children receiving the grant and attending five sessions a week, you can drop them down to two sessions if that is your wish.
