April 2011
Dear Parent/Carer,
Firstly, I hope that you will all enjoy the Easter break which is really late this year. Can I remind you that the school is closed from Monday 18th April for the week and re-opens on Tuesday 26th April. We will be open for the Wednesday and Thursday but then close again on the Friday for the Royal Wedding. As Monday 2nd May is another bank holiday, we will open again on Tuesday 3rd May and apart from Bank Holidays will be open for the rest of the year until Christmas. I will be on holiday during this period and Mrs. Queripel will be covering my absence.
Grant
Children who turn three before 31st August will be entitled to the grant from September. They are entitled to up to 15 hours of free education a week which can be spread over the term or the academic year. If your child is celebrating their third birthday over the next few months and you would like to increase sessions, please speak to a member of staff, so that we can book those in for the Autumn Term.
Staff
You may have noticed a new member of staff join us recently. This is Mrs. Carey Kelly, who studied for her NVQ Level 2 in Childcare with us. Also I am sure you would wish to join me in congratulating Mrs. Queripel (Becky) who is expecting her first child in the Autumn and Mrs. Hales who is due to have a second child later in the Summer.
Comic Relief
We raised a total of £63 which has been deposited at the bank. Thank you to everyone for their contribution to this charity, it is a tremendous effort for a small school.
Pleas
There are always pleas, so here we go!
1. Please continue to save Tesco and Sainsbury vouchers, we still need a lot more if we are able to order equipment. Please ask family and friends to support us. Thank you.
2. Please can you notify us of any holidays you have planned during the coming months as this helps us with staffing arrangements and the billing.
3. Please can you complete the form on the bottom of the newsletter regarding your child’s attendance during half term and return in the next two weeks.
4. Please remember that Robbie and Rose like to go on holiday, they are truly fed up sitting at Head Start watching all the children. If you are planning a holiday, a special event, a weekend, think about these two bears who would love to leave the confines of the school and participate.
5. We do run a library for borrowing Kipper books here. The children really enjoy these books and some recognise the characters and some can read the words. This will give them a head start in their reading. In order to ensure that books do not get lost, we are asking parents who wish to take advantage of this to pay a £5 deposit which will be refunded when your child finishes, provided of course, that a book has not gone missing, in which case we will keep the deposit to pay for a replacement.
6. Please can I ask you to try and persuade your child to leave personal toys at home. We have real difficulties when children bring in toys as other children want to play with them and this can lead to arguments, plus the fact the toy could get lost or broken. Most toys that are brought in are put on the shelf anyway to avoid this situation, naturally this does not apply to a comforter.
7. Please can I ask you to remember to donate a piece of fruit/vegetable/tin of fruit for the first session your child attends during the week. We do provide most of the snack but it helps to be subsidised in this way.
8. Please remember to return the application of sun cream form as soon as possible with a sun lotion.
Thank you.
