1. To provide a safe, secure and happy environment where children are free to explore, play and learn.
2. To ensure that staff are suitably qualified and have the necessary checks to look after children, so that they can provide activities and opportunities for their development and can manage a wide range of children’s behaviour.
3. To work in partnership with parents to promote the welfare, care and learning of the individual child and to keep parents informed about their child’s activities and progress plus events at the school, informally in conversation and formally through documentation.
4. To actively promote equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice within the setting.
5. To provide appropriate resources and utilise all the space, both indoors and outside, that can effectively promote the development of the children.
6. To ensure that proper measures are in place the promote the safety and good health of everyone in the setting.
7. To make the necessary provision for any child identified with a special need and work in partnership with carers and other agencies to promote the welfare and development of the child.
8. To ensure that staff and parents are aware of child protection issues within the school and that the policy is put into practice if required.
9. To acknowledge the rights of the child in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child, in particular Articles 29 to 31.
